The aim of the programme is to prepare students to plan, implement, assess and evaluate teaching within post compulsory education; it involves attendance at approved local colleges, with teaching placement within each college; the programme is validated by the university and administered and taught by a team of tutors at the local colleges; the programme of underpinning educational theory introduces programme members to planning and principles of learning, learning media and methods of teaching and learning to support their teaching practice; during the 2nd semester, students are involved in a broader study of post-compulsory education; in particular, course members are required to undertake a comparative study of different teaching situations within a study group triangulation, to consider contemporary issues within the post-compulsory sector, and issues related to inclusive learning; all programme members must also plan and undertake a small scale action research study within own teaching situation.
