Course Description
This is a flexible part-time programme intended for those working in all education sectors, including early years, primary, secondary, further education and higher education. The programme is also relevant to those in work-based training environments. Alternatively, you may have a general interest in education. It has been designed to enable you to study modules that are relevant to your developmental needs or research areas that may have been identified within your role. You can choose any four modules from those available, these may be adapted/ created to suit your needs. The programme is planned so that coherent pathways relevant to a sector or subject can be followed. Topics tend to be either generic in that they relate to all sectors, sector-specific or subject-specific. For example: Early years and primary education; Post-compulsory education and training; Higher education and training (a programme giving membership of the HE Academy is available); Curriculum subjects including mathematics, science, music, language and literacy and design and technology; Generic modules such as mentoring and leadership; Research. Your selection of modules will be based on your areas of interest. The modules may relate directly to your professional work or you may wish to explore new areas of interest. MA Education students choose from a wide range of modules including action research, where a topic can be selected according to student interest or areas of professional development. We provide a framework to develop your professional competence further giving you a recognised professional development qualification and a degree if you don't have one. This is the ideal platform to use project work towards accreditation and it gives you the opportunity to develop transferable skills and gain accreditation as you study.
