The course: explores key political and philosophical debates that have influenced and shaped teaching and learning in citizenship, history or religious education; encourages students to reflect critically upon principles and issues that relate to policy and professional practice; explores contemporary developments in citizenship, history and religious education, and develops students thinking about the role of these subjects.
Modules include: Children's rights in practice; history, culture and citizenship: engaging with museums, galleries and heritage; international perspectives in history education; issues and debates in religious education; learning, teaching and assessment in history; religion and school life; theories of childhood and children's rights; transnational perspectives on democratic education.
