Develops understanding of the economics of education, which is concerned with assessing the benefits and costs of education to individuals and to society and with using this framework to evaluate educational policies in both developing and developed countries; equips students with knowledge and understanding of the economics of education and its research methods; enables students to apply economic concepts and methods for analysing and researching education policy to their own field of work and a national context; provides students with the capacity to evaluate and critique the ways in which economists have applied economic principles to education and education policy-making; examines relationships between education and its benefits to individuals and society; explains and applies key economic concepts, methods and ideas to education in both developing and developed countries; provides the tools for the critical assessment of education policies; MSc is taken within the Institute's Doctoral School as a research degree.
