Members of the Ecology programme study the interactions that determine the distribution and abundance of organisms and seek insights that contribute to the understanding, management and conservation of marine and terrestrial populations and communities; the Department has ecologists with expertise ranging from individuals, to populations, communities and global processes; this programme comprises 4 overlapping research groupings: deep ocean biology; population ecology; community ecology; conservation ecology.
