Year 1: Introduction to early years care and education (study skills focus); child development; observing children; learning through play; contemporary issues in children's health and well-being; reflective practice. Year 2: Theory to practice (study skills 2); the protection of children and their rights; working with parents; policy to practice (roles and responsibilities); childhood studies in practice; reflective practice 2.
