This course is designed to prepare students with the knowledge and design skills they need to create garments using original designs. It provides a thorough introduction to all aspects of the fashion industry. They will develop their creative skills through studying units over 1 year which include the following mandatory units: visual recording in art and design, materials, techniques and processes in art and design, ideas and concepts in art and design, communication through art and design, contextual Influences in art and design. They will also study specialist unit including: pattern construction, production techniques for fashion and clothing, garment production. On successful completion of this course they could progress onto higher level courses like a HND or degree in fashion.
