This course provides a unique programme of study based on practical and theoretical approaches to the subject of drama and performance in all its forms; the ethos of the course is to encourage students to question the boundaries of theatrical disciplines, by exploring innovative ways of creating and thinking about drama and performance; in addition to specialist study in contemporary performance in level 4, students will be provided with fundamental skills in performance discipline and skill, and introductory approaches to research methodologies; level 5 focuses on the professional applications of drama and performance, giving the opportunity for a high degree of independence and self directed learning, culminating in a dissertation and a major performance project in level 6; throughout the course, practical approaches to a variety of performance modes are explored, such as improvisation, live art, political theatre, physical theatre, and site-specific performance; these practical elements are placed in the context of rigorous critical analysis and theoretical frameworks
