A broad approach to drama is offered where contemporary performance is explored alongside conventional and historical practice; drama is studied theoretically and practically, ensuring the development of academic and performance-based skills.
Year 1: 4 modules to provide a practical and theoretical introduction to drama involving technical skills of lighting, sound and computer-based scenic design; theatre history; theories of performance and acting technique; scripting and directing skills. Year 2: Practical skills developed through the study of naturalistic and non-naturalistic dramatic practices from the early modern period through contemporary post-modern theatres. Year 3: Independence in the choice of modules as well as the opportunity to focus on individual interests.
