This foundation studies course is divided into three stages: Exploratory Stage: a broad-based exploration of materials, techniques and media, designed to build a solid skills base; Pathway Stage: it is dedicated to project work and the further development of skills and knowledge; and Confirmatory Stage: work on a major self-initiated project, followed by external examination and an end-of-year exhibition. On completion of course, they can progress on to HNC, HND, Foundation Degrees, and BA (Hons) Art and Design courses. It is also available for international participants.
Participants should have minimum of 40 UCAS points from AS or A Level; ASVCE or AVCE; BTEC National Award, Certificate, Diploma Award in Art and Design or related subjects and Adult and Functional Skills awards; Access award in Art and Design; Other recognised UK and overseas related FE Level 3 award; or 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C with a good portfolio.
