The focus will be on fiction writing so anyone suitably motivated can join. Writers will be encouraged to learn the techniques of writing as well as developing their creative ideas. The course will help students to look at: * Structure, direction and shape * Develop knowledge and understanding of form and genre through creative writing * Understand and use strategies for conveying ideas, mood, plot, narrative and dialogue where appropriate * Adopting a critical and constructive approach when considering the work of others * Develop critical abilities when considering their own work. A College Certificate will be awarded on request. You will gain confidence in your writing. You may (if you work really hard!) sell a piece of fiction or non-fiction. You will learn by putting into practice the skills that you discuss in the sessions. By looking at successful authors and seeing how they 'Do It'. You will be encouraged to develop your own style. The course is on-going. However, if you put together a portfolio of work you may increase your chances of being accepted on an MA Writing for Children or Creative and Critical Writing course.
