This course has a foundation year (year 0) for students who do not have the required science A-levels; year 1 is based in the school of medical sciences; year 2 is based primarily in the school of oral and dental sciences for initial clinical skills training and patient contact; in year 3 students may consider intercalating in a science subject to obtain an honours BSc; the remaining clinical years focus on developing clinical skills and experience in each of the clinical disciplines and at outreach clinics; the elective project at the end of year 4 provides an opportunity for undertaking dental-related research, audit, or supervised clinical activity either abroad or in the UK.
