This is a 5-day taught module and a wide range of study patterns can be followed; this module explores some of the issues in end of life care for patients with advanced and progressive disease; students are encouraged to analyse the complexity of the dying process and the challenges these pose when caring for this group of patients including: sociological perspectives; communication; symptom management in the last 48 hours of life; aspects of service provision/delivery; it also encourages students to critically analyse ethical and moral issues that occur in clinical practice with dying patients.
