This international programme enables international and EU teachers of the deaf to participate and collaborate with other professionals in deaf education from a range of international contexts; the programme is unique in its philosophy of deafness and its inclusive approach recognises the value of sign language and the associated role of deaf adults in deaf children's education; the programme builds upon available research and inspection evidence, and offers students the opportunity to examine the models that maybe most appropriate for their context; the programme is an e-blended distance programme that makes use of the University of Leeds Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) to combine module reading and private research with collaborative on-line tasks and discussion; students can study in their own country and engage with course tutors and fellow students via VLE activities.
Core modules: International policy and practice in deaf education; deafness and development; issues in educational audiology; critical study (deaf education); learning and teaching in deaf education.
