The course aims to equip students with the knowledge and understanding required to evaluate the study of crime, criminology and the criminal justice system; students will study the theoretical approaches which underpin criminology and are encouraged to develop an understanding of the social contexts in which crime and deviance exist; throughout the course students are encouraged to relate and apply their knowledge and experiences to specific legislation, policy and practice in relation to crime reduction, criminal justice, restorative justice, youth justice, community safety and control and punishment.
