Course Description
For graduates in a related social science discipline who wish to develop their research skills in order to proceed to doctoral level study. This course provides the opportunity to study in an exciting research environment with highly experienced academic staff that can provide PhD supervision for appropriate candidates. The Certificate and Diploma stages are primarily classroom based taught stages comprising a total of eight modules. A further double module involves the writing of a research proposal, which provides the basis for the Masters stage.

Assessment method
The emphasis is on a student centred approach to teaching and learning utilising a variety of assessment methods depending on the learning outcomes and teaching environment on individual modules. Assessment methods include traditional essays, reports, individual and group presentations and computer based exercises. The Masters stage is assessed by the dissertation.

Entry Requirements
Normally a good honours degree or equivalent in a related social science discipline. Professional qualifications and/or substantial professional experience in an appropriate environment will also be considered.
