The LLM in Human Rights and Criminal Justice reflects established areas of research strength in the School; the available options are both of international relevance and meet the demand for studying contemporary issues in human rights and criminal justice at an advanced level; students must complete 4 courses and a dissertation; those registered for this programme must take at least 2 human rights courses and at least 1 criminal justice course; the 4th course can be taken from a different LLM programme.
Semester 1: regional human rights systems; peoples, indigenous peoples and minorities in international law; intellectual property, human rights and development; dimensions of crime and criminological thought; issues in criminal justice; semester 2; international human rights law; legal issues in EU law; comparative constitutional law; legal regimes for the protection of minority languages; international criminal law; criminal evidence and proof.
