Course Venue: City North Campus , West Midlands, B42 2SU
Course Description
Students will explore the nature of criminal justice policy and practice, considering the rapidly changing theoretical and real-world contexts within which the work of the criminal just system is planned and managed. The course provides a major opportunity, particularly for experienced or aspiring employees of criminal justice agencies, to further their careers by obtaining advanced qualifications, which have an applied and practical ethos, albeit in a challenging intellectual and academic context. There are opportunities for students working within the criminal justice system to link their proposal and dissertation research to their current employment experience. Content of the course The PgDip is the 'taught' stage of this programme. It uses learning and assessment strategies appropriate to the level of maturity and experience of students. It comprises the equivalent of eight modules of study spread throughout the academic year. Those proceeding to the Master's stage will be required to complete a dissertation of an appropriate standard and of approximately 15,000 to 20,000 words.
