This course provides the student with the knowledge and skills to work confidently as a photographer, particularly editorial work for magazines, newspapers or the advertising and communications industry; through work-related study students gain practical and professional insights which prepare them for work as an editorial photographer; the curriculum introduces the student to both chemically-based wet photography and digital photography; they are also equipped to make sound and objective evaluations of their own work and learning; participants have the opportunity to progress to the 3rd year of a Bachelor of Art (Honours) degree course at the University.
Areas of study include: camera skills and knowledge; darkroom skills and knowledge; computer and digital imaging skills; creative and documentary applications of photography; managing photography; cultural, political and commercial contexts of photography; work-related practice.
