The purpose of this course is to give students the opportunity to explore form and materials as a means of expression. This course is about creating a sculpture using a life model as reference, rather than doing a technical study of a model (though students may choose to work without any reference to the model). It aims to teach students to use the human form to express an emotion, energy or character powerfully, to develop understanding of how to use different forms and compositions to express a feeling, and to understand the subtlety needed in the artist's choice of forms, textures and materials. All of these aspects will equally be covered as structural/compositional principles to suit their needs should the student not wish use the model as reference.

Great class. Lots of who hints and advice. Small number of students which allows for more involvement with the teacher. Would recommend to anyone who wants some confidence when speaking in public....more
