Experimental design with pattern cuttingBefore you commence a degree level fashion course or if you are preparing a portfolio for application or interview, it can be beneficial to understand how clothes are constructed and to experiment creatively with constructing shapes and silhouettes. For this course you will need to spend time in advance sourcing an item of vintage clothing that inspires you, which you will bring to the studio to analyse. You will identify the construction of the garments, and receive cutting tuition in how to design creative patterns from the pieces and then to experiment innovatively using further creative research towards producing new exciting fashion silhouettes. This course with combined design and pattern cutting tuition will help to develop your understanding of fashion as a 3D form, how to create a coherent collection of ideas and how to explore your creativity in the fashion school environment. This course is ideal for anyone about to commence a degree course in fashion, for portfolio building and who wishes to explore and develop creatively 3D design and construction skills.
