Course Description
The programme seeks to develop a range of counselling skills and actively encourages collaborative working. It will prove useful to those wishing to utilise counselling skills in their working environment. Amongst foundation disciplines covered, will be the psychosocial basis of health, the client's unique cultural, spiritual and social construct, together with a wider awareness of social provision in contemporary society. Counselling skills method will encompass Life and Loss; Psychodynamic, Cognitive, and Behavioural approaches; Stress; Interventions in Primary Care, as well as Supervision and Professional Development. In the second and third years, students will utilise counselling skills in a supervised environment, attached to a mentor.
