Course is primarily concerned with contemporary practices in lens media, in both still and moving image; the programme offers an exploration of lens-based methods, materials, techniques and approaches.
Level 1: During the first year of study various aspects of the subject are introduced, providing a basic foundation of visual communication and knowledge; students are introduced to processes and methods appropriate to both photography and moving image. Level 2: In the second year students have the opportunity to specialise in either photography or moving image; in combination with students chosen area of specialism, they begin to plan their career development and engage with professional practice in the creative industries. Level 3: In the third year of study, students have the opportunity to produce a major body of work that demonstrates a thorough understanding of their chosen medium; in the final year, the programme focuses upon personal expression and career goals; students in both disciplines work towards a final exhibition of work, portfolio and show-reel, which will equip them for the professional and artistic world ahead of them.
