About this course

This degree programme enables extensive exploration and investigation into glass, ceramics and metals in their many variations; the vocational nature of this foundation degree means that creative skills are complemented by practical work experience and professional studies teaching; students gain a thorough understanding of contemporary, historical, critical and contextual issues that surround the subject and influence where it is today.

Modules

Year 1; Core modules; practice in context 1; drawing development; introduction to materials and processes; design for industry; artist/designer maker; work based learning (investigation and preparation). Year 2: Core modules; sustainable practice; public realm; enterprise and professional practice; personal project; external design; practice in context 2; work based learning (experience and evaluation); complementary studies.
