This course equips participants with a strong programming background that is focused on the complexities and sophistication of modern games design programming. In addition, they are introduced to 3D modelling and will also be taught how to animate models using their own code. They are encouraged to use a variety of game development tools and environments, and ultimately will design and produce their own 2D and 3D games. Year 1 units include: 3D modelling & animation, games design, computer a& internet technology, software programming, sound & media fundamental, and marketing techniques. Year 2 studies cover the following: game levels & environments, games development, applied programming, hardware & software interfacing, and project. Job prospects within the interactive entertainment industry are very good and the generic skills acquired on the course will open up other career paths. Progression may be possible to the BSc Games Technology course provided the appropriate level of qualification is met.
