Theoretical modules such as videogames and society, and games design will facilitate them to critically examine historical, contemporary and emerging computer games and associated issues relevant to the games development industry. In year 2, they will build on many of the skills developed in the first year to include areas such as games engines, 3D level design, 3D animation, advancing the foundations of both their game designing and 3D modelling skills to produce more sophisticated and professional results. Areas of study: 3D animation, games engines, 3D level design, browser-based games, dissertation preparation. In year 3 brings all elements of the previous two year programme together to enable them to focus their research in one particular area of study in order to produce a piece of academic writing that is analytical and critical in its approach. The programme culminates in a final project designed to highlight key strengths developed over the programme of study, with a particular focus on innovation, while encouraging creative development in areas of their choice.
