This computer games (art and animation) degree programme is designed to provide graduates with the right mix of practical skills and theoretical knowledge necessary for a career as a game artist; this course appeals to students who wish to combine their traditional art skills with cutting edge creative technology in 3-dimensional art, animation and motion graphics; the course is practically focused offering continual opportunity for portfolio development.
Year 1: Core modules; design process; 2-dimensional design; digital design; 3-dimensional visualisation; digital video; design context. Year 2: Core modules; introduction to animation; 3-dimensional modelling; game design (computer games only); portfolio production; interactive media programming; motion graphics. Year 3: Core modules; lighting and rendering techniques; advanced animation; individual project; group project; advanced portfolio production; advanced 3-dimensional modelling. Year 4: Core modules; honours project; advanced rendering techniques; 3-dimensional internet virtual worlds; industrial project.
