This programme is designed for students who see their future in software development for communications systems; it examines network and communications hardware, as well as software engineering, programming for embedded systems and large-scale and distributed systems.
Year 1: Introduction to WWW systems and design; programming for engineers; computer systems organisation; introduction to computer networking; software engineering; e-commerce and enabling technologies; engineering applications. Year 2: Local area networks; software engineering; principles of communications systems; network security engineering; wide area networks; option. Optional sandwich year. Final year: Engineering management; design and simulation of communication networks; project; client-focused project; developments in information age engineering; communications methods and procedures; option.
