This programme is designed for individuals interested in property with particular focus on the acquisition, development and valuation of land and buildings; it seeks to develop in the graduate the ability to think analytically, yet creatively, at a strategic level, in the context of the commercial built environment; it has a strong commercial focus, and provides the student with the essential knowledge and skills to formulate, design and evaluate development proposals; the course is developed in partnership with principal surveying practices and enjoys established links with employers in both the private and public sector; it responsive to the changing needs of industry and delivers not only a comprehensive academic knowledge base but the essential professional and transferable skills required by employers; it offers an advanced level of learning skills to lay the foundation for a professional and rewarding career in the surveying profession; students awarded this MSc enjoy full exemption from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) educational requirements; graduates are eligible for direct entrance on to the RICS APC (Assessment of Professional Competence) training programme, with professional qualification as a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) attainable within 2 years of obtaining the degree.
