Coleg Sir Gar (Carmarthenshire College) is one of the largest education and training providers in Wales with around 14,000 full and part-time students. It is an accredited college of the University of Wales: Trinity Saint Davids, the University of Glamorgan and Aberystwyth University.

The college has a wide variety of academic and vocational provision and prides itself on its friendly and supportive learning environment. Students consistently achieve high academic success as well as national and international recognition for their studies.

What's on Offer:  

Courses range from A-levels, NVQs, First and National Diplomas, apprenticeships and work based learning as well as university accredited courses such as HNCs, HNDs, degrees and post-graduate studies.

The college offers courses at further and higher education level in construction, engineering, agriculture, art and design, business management as well as health and social care, computing and childcare. Coleg Sir Gar works closely in partnership with local schools, delivering vocational skills such as woodwork and a work-based learning pathway in fashion, equivalent to two GCSEs.

As a five-campus institution, provision is wide and the offer of courses varies by campus. For example, Gelli Aur campus offers provision in agriculture and Pibwrlwyd offers an equine centre and training restaurant. Jobs Well campus is the hub of the new Art, Film and Media provision and offers a huge range of degree courses in art and design. At the Graig campus, there are also creative courses such as art and design, textiles, photography, performing arts and music technology courses as well as engineering, sport and IT courses. 

All courses are supported by excellent resources and facilities. These include a casting foundry; an indoor equine arena; state-of-the-art, high-level, integrated engineering centre; a laser, fabric-welding joining machine, a working hair salon and beauty-therapy suites, a commercial training restaurant, an all-weather sports pitch and a purpose-built agricultural campus. Support is available for all students regardless of their study mode, and this includes help with finances, a free counselling service, careers guidance and help finding accommodation.

All students are also given the opportunity to participate in sport with the introduction of the college Sports Academy. Rugby has an excellent reputation with links to the Scarlets Academy and students constantly gain regional, national and international honours.
