Coleg Sir Gar / Carmarthenshire College Entertainment
There are a wide range of things to do in Carmarthenshire; whether you want to unwind with a stroll on the beach or pop into town for a few drinks with your friends, there is a unique atmosphere about West Wales offering a harmonising balance of serenity and fun.
The county has a variety of clubs, pubs, cafes and restaurants to choose from, so there is always somewhere to meet up with friends or family if they decide to visit you whilst you're at college. There are also other places to visit, such as the capital of Wales in Cardiff and the beautiful coastal areas surrounding the Gower as well as the Mumbles in Swansea which offers a mixture of pubs and shops, with Italian and Welsh ice cream parlours situated by the sea.
Student activity is encouraged by Student Union officers, who already help and support new students, and also welcome the energy of new students and their ideas. They already help students take part in setting up societies and nights out, and also encourage students to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, volunteering and arranging wacky fund raising activities for charity.
There are plenty of leisure activities on offer too; whether it's motor racing at Pembrey Racing Circuit or windsurfing at the beach. If you like to visit places of historic interest, then there are plenty of castles and museums to see, and if you want to catch a film or a play, there are theatres and cinemas dotted all around the county.
Wales houses the Milennium Stadium in Cardiff, where many rugby internationals and other sports are played as well as hosting other events throughout the year such as bands and gigs. It's only around an hour away using the train or bus.
