Residential introduction; coastal and estuary processes; hydrology; impacts of climate change; statistical modelling; principles of GIS; freshwater sampling techniques; marine sampling techniques; marine fisheries; nearshore ecology; integrated coastal management; freshwater ecology; research and professional issues; and a research project (summer); optional courses: tropical marine biology [field course]; scientific diving; boat handling; spatial modelling; applied GIS; remote sensing; principles of land survey; hydrographic survey; catchment management; water pollution; marine mammal biology; programming in R; advanced linear models; introduction to R; scientific writing; introduction to Bayesian statistics; introduction to general linear models; experimental design and power analysis; spatial processes; multi-species models; phyloinformatics; single-species population models; and estimating population sizes.
