The course takes a scientific approach to the field of clinical microbiology emphasising the importance of research and development in the area and exposes students to the latest advances in both the theory and practise of clinical microbiology; the programme provides students with comprehensive theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical experience of clinical microbiology; the taught programme combines lectures, seminars and practical laboratory classes, culminating in a laboratory based research project, which is intended to develop the keys skills required of an independent researcher.
