The great strength of classical & archaeological studies is the hugely interesting and varied range of subjects it includes; literature, mythology, drama, archaeology, art and architecture, history, languages and philosophy; and the way they all connect in the study of ancient civilisations; Canterbury is the closest British university city to mainland Europe, and the proximity to the channel ports and Ashford international station means students can arrive in France in just a couple of hours; there are many French-speaking students on campus, so students get a better chance to immerse themselves in the language than at any other university in the country.
