The City Business College is an independent college of further and Higher Education providing tuition in both business and general education in Central London. It is located close to the Barbican Centre. Surrounding the College is a wealth of cultural and sporting facilities, available to all our students. The College specialises in providing students with first-class coaching in their chosen fields of study. Lecturing staff is made up of people who have graduated from many famous universities (including Cambridge and London) and people with qualifications from professional institutions.

The strong and varied background of our lecturers enables us to maintain teaching of a very high standard on all our full time courses, which is reflected in the continuing quality of our examination results. the students - they are not simply lectures. The number of students in each class is limited in order to facilitate attention to individual students’ needs. City Business College was founded in 1985. The College administration does its utmost to assist students in all practical ways so that they may concentrate on academic achievement in a congenial atmosphere, which is conducive to study. This means that students are always able to receive help with any academic or personal problems and that their progress is closely monitored. When students enter a full time course of studies with The City Business College, their main purpose is to gain appropriate qualifications, which will help them to further their chosen career.

Apart from ensuring that all students achieve this objective, it is important to us that all students who attend are given every opportunity to realise their own potential and to start making, with confidence, those decisions which will affect the future direction of their studies. A number of British Universities recognise several of the courses which we run for admission and exemption purposes on their degree and masters’ programmes. All professional examinations are held by accredited external examining authorities such as ABE, IMIS, ICM. Before the College can accept students, they must complete an application form and pay the minimum deposit. This will confirm a place on the student's chosen full time course.

What's on offer
Advice is given to all our students with all kinds of problems from losing passports, to finding a local doctor. We offer help with visas, opening a bank account and accommodation. The Administration staff will assist students to register with the local Doctor and Dentist in the area.

We do our best to make sure that our student’s time with us is happy. Holders of the ABE Certificates will often qualify for degree entrance; ABE Diploma holders for 1st year exemption from a degree and ABE Advanced Diplomas for second year exemption. ICM Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas and Graduate Diplomas will also often qualify holders for degree entrance and exemptions. Holders of the IMIS Diploma qualify for entrance to the computing degrees of several Universities. In addition students holding City Business College’s own Diploma in Management Studies have gained entrance to MBA programmes of over a dozen British Universities. Thus, it will be seen that obtaining these qualifications can often lead to an inexpensive way of proceeding to a quite high level in the academic world.

Every assistance is given to students to ensure that they enrol on a course, which is appropriate, and of real benefit to them. Students are encouraged to consult members of staff about their progress and to discuss any topics they find difficult. Apart from advising on purely academic matters, help is also given to ease students’ worries about any difficulties they may encounter outside the college. BOOKS - LIBRARY - INTERNET AND TV ROOM. Each class follows a course book, which is supplemented by our extensive resources of other materials. Students are expected to obtain the course book and any accompanying work book. These can be obtain in the college. Students must have their course books with them when they attend class. Students and teachers can borough books from the library. The free Internet room is available every day (5 days per week) from 9am to 5.30pm. Students wishing to relax they can go to the Coffee TV room.

Location
Many of the famous sights of London and the City (St Paul's Cathedral, and the Barbican) are within walking distance of the College. The City of London and the four Inns of Court contain such well-known names as Chancery Lane, the Royal Courts of Justice, the Stock Exchange and the Bank of England, as well as branches of every important bank in the world. Local features include Hatton Garden, world famous for its international jewellery trade, and Smithfield Market, centre of London's meat trade. Just up the River Thames is the extensive Docklands development, which is one of the fastest- growing business and financial centres in Europe.

As can be seen, the College is in an ideal location for the serious student who wishes to combine business interests with the artistic and cultural activities provided by the Barbican Centre. Although we accept applications by email and by fax, authenticated copies of qualifications should be sent by post together with a copy of the application form. The College offers a variety of tuition to suit all tastes. All examination courses are available on a full-time basis, entailing at least 15 hours of teaching-time per week. A private study of 7 to 10 hours per week is required apart from the 15 hours tuition per week to complete the course, totalling average of 25 hours (including private study, project assignment and attendance).
