Student Story: Access to Dance
From prize-winning ‘popping’ to ballet and contemporary dance, Dickson Mbi’s dance career has certainly been varied. With dreams of becoming a world-class choreographer, Dickson decided to study Access to Dance at Lewisham College.
‘About five years ago, I won a street dancing competition and got a scholarship for Dance lessons at Pineapple studios. I didn’t go; I didn’t think dancing was macho enough. Instead I started do a style of dancing called ‘popping’. I was UK champion in 2008 and 2009.
