The course is aimed at professionals who work with children caught up in the legal system (e.g. police officers, social workers, children's guardians etc.); the course informs practitioners of relevant psychological research, law, judicial practice and investigatory procedures.
Units include: language and memory relating to interviews of child witnesses; aspects of development relevant to children as witnesses and offenders; children within the legal system; law and procedure in relation to both criminal and civil law; perception, detecting truth and deception; short and long-term effects of abuse.
