This course examines computer architecture, networking, web design and programming fundamentals, as well as covering the changing role of the IT professional in the sector. The emphasis is always on a modern approach to the material, closely aligned to current practice in the IT industry. It covers contents which include: web development, organisations and information systems, introduction to programming, computer architecture and operating systems, introduction to networking. On completion of course, they can progress onto the second year of the Foundation Degree in Computing Solutions: Networks or Internet pathways and then on to the BSc in either pathway.
Participants should have achieved 60 UCAS points through A Levels, or an equivalent qualification and 4 GCSEs at grades A*-C including maths and English, Skills for Life or Key skills equivalent.
