This course is aimed at those wishing to advance their skills and career options in river basin processes and management; it offers opportunities for industrial work-placements and collaborative research projects with outside bodies such as the environmental agency and environmental consultants; the course provides: Advanced pure and applied education and training in key modern and developing fields of river catchment dynamics and management and UK environment agency policy and practice; an appreciation of the institutional and legal frameworks that impact upon catchment management including EU directives and the water framework directive; training in the theoretical and practical elements of hydraulic and water quality modelling and the application of a range of commercially available models to specific environmental problems; a range of transferable, marketable skills required to obtain employment in the environmental monitoring, management, or consultancy sectors; research training for students wishing to continue on to PhD research.
