Camberwell College of Arts is located in south London in an area where artists including Antony Gormley, Cathy De Monchaux and Tom Phillips work. Camberwell staff exhibit throughout the world and others have pieces included in national collections. Teaching at the college was recognised as Excellent in March 2000 when Camberwell was awarded 23 out of a maximum 24 points in a QAA subject review of art and design.
Camberwell College is part of what was the London Institute and is now The University of the Arts London – one of the largest and most important groupings of art and design colleges in the world. The other Colleges are: Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, Chelsea College of Art & Design, London College of Fashion, London College of Communication and Wimbledon College of Art. Camberwell students are able to access the abundance of specialist facilties and resources a large university has to offer including student unions, libraries and the IT facilities, as well as being part of a vibrant and creative community in south London.
Camberwell encourages applications from different sections of the local, national and international community and has courses available at varying levels, from further education to postgraduate study and research. Further education courses include the BTEC Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art and Design – a one-year programme preparing students for entry onto a degree-level course in art and design.
What's on offer
In addition to the range of full time and accredited courses, Camberwell also offers weekend, evening and daytime Short Courses in the following subjects: Pottery and Sculpture, Digital Design, Drawing & Painting, Textiles, Printmaking, Conservation, Graphic Design & Illustration, Photography, Film & TV, Jewellery and Portfolio Courses for 16 - 19 year olds.
