The Certificate in LD Practice is aimed at aspiring and existing trainers and those looking for a strong grounding in L&D essentials, including those who are aspiring to, or embarking on, a career in L&D are working in the field of L&D in a support role and wish to develop their knowledge and skills have responsibility for L&D activities within an organisation without a specialist function are contracted as employees or independent consultants within the field of L&D Studying this course will give you: a sound understanding of the knowledge for a professional L&D practitioner. an understanding of how L&D activities support an organisation s strategy and assist the achievement of business objectives The Certificate in LD Practice provides a firm foundation in all the areas of learning and development, including its impact on business sustainability. It will help you develop essential skills and give you the confidence to be more effective at work. Core units covered are: Developing yourself as an effective L&D practitioner Understanding organisations and the role of HR Recording, analysing and using HR information Optional units are: Undertaking a learning needs analysis Preparing and designing learning and development activities Delivering learning and development activities Evaluating learning and development activities Developing coaching skills for the workplace The Certificate in LD Practice is a foundation-level qualification and is designed to reflect the CIPD HR Profession Map and new professional membership criteria. It is the equivalent level to NVQ Level 3 and requires a completed total of 28 credits. The Certificate in LD Practice uses a highly practical approach, to provide an in-depth and thorough grounding in the training cycle and the fundamentals of learning and development. It is split 50:50 between class based study and self study. College study will be a mixture of taught sessions, discussions and practical work. Apart from class time you will need to spend an average of 4 hours per week undertaking research or completing assessment tasks. Each unit will require completion of a mix of written and practical, skill-based assessments. These will be marked by your lecturer and be internally and externally verified. Completion of the Certificate in LD Practice provides the knowledge required for new Associate professional level of CIPD membership. If you then have the relevant experience you can apply for a membership assessment and if successful be upgraded to new Associate (Assoc CIPD). If you are interested in further study at this level, you can study additional optional units (totaling 9 credits) to achieve a Diploma in LDP. Alternatively you can progress to the Certificate/Diploma in Human Resource Development (Level 5).
Although there are no formal academic entry requirements, the course tutor will discuss your suitability for the course either before the course start or within the first few weeks.
