This course is ideal for students who are interested in a career in the hairdressing industry, allowing them to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment. They will study: working in hairdressing, maintain health and safety in the salon, client consultation for hairdressing services, shampoo and condition the hair and scalp, cut women’s hair, style and dress women’s hair, colour hair, perm and neutralise hair, fulfil salon reception duties, display stock to promote sales in a salon, monitor and maintain levels of stock in a salon, provide scalp massage, hairdressing design skills. They can progress to a higher level hairdressing course at South Essex College such as hairdressing NVQ level 2. They may also enter employment as an apprentice junior in salons, health farms, cruise ships and spas.
