Course Description
This course aims to offer students from a Business or Finance HND or Foundation degree background the opportunity to successfully achieve an Honours degree in Business and Management. It can be used by students for successful career planning and it can also provide a stepping stone to future postgraduate studies. The course is designed to build on the practical strengths of a business or finance based HND or Foundation degree, developing graduates who are critically informed, adaptable and resourceful, with the capability to make an effective contribution to business and management. It offers the advantage of the opportunity to obtain Honours degree level proficiency in just one year of study. The course is both dynamic and intensive. Students who prefer a slower route can be considered for direct entry into the second year of the BA (Hons) Business Studies Sandwich degree programme or study part-time over a period of up to three years. In order to obtain the hallmark of an Honours degree student, the programme has to be intensive. Total commitment from the student will ensure the achievement of a good degree. A high level of motivation, therefore, needs to be maintained throughout the study period and the teaching team work closely with students to ensure that each student is able to achieve their maximum potential. The course encourages integrative and strategic thinking, enabling students to relate business activity to the overall factors which drive business. Students are encouraged to develop their interpersonal skills and an emphasis is placed, by the teaching staff, on the acquisition of effective management techniques.

Entry is normally through an HND or Foundation Degree in an appropriate subject, or equivalent. Particular grades and/or units may be required.
