In the first year, business students choose 2 subjects (or fields of study) from within the Business School and take a core course of accounting, economics, information technology for business and quantitative methods; in the second and final years, students select a major/minor or twin pattern of study; information systems gives students a sound foundation in information systems from the basics of management information systems to dedicated decision support, database and expert systems; it also covers project management and the use of information systems as a strategic tool; this field of study equips students with the knowledge and skills to work in, or to interface with, the computer industry; those who take a major or twin are typically prepared for a career as an information technology manager or consultant, a systems designer or a support analyst.
