Business is a broad subject area, containing elements such as finance, marketing, human resources, project management and law. Students study issues that emphasise the challenging nature of the business environment and many of the assessments are based upon live project briefs with their developing a range of vocational skills. In year 1, they will study a broad range of subjects that will give them insight into the main areas of business; such as finance, human resources, marketing and law. Areas of study: managing people, introduction to business law, the business environment, event management, quantitative techniques, introduction to finance, business planning & marketing. In year 2, they will build and expand upon the subjects studied in year one, focusing on areas such the use of technology in business, marketing in the regulatory environment, human resources and finance. Areas of study: business research, business finance, business technology, organisational behaviour introduction to applied economic theory. In year 3, they are expected to be more independent than in the previous years and will need to be particularly organised and draw upon the skills that they have developed throughout the programme. Areas of study: advanced research (management), individual project (dissertation, double weighted), business strategy, operations management.
