Students develop skills in analysing business requirements and then designing, building and developing suitable applications software; emphasis is put on integrated business applications; the course cover topics in depth including systems analysis; data structures; systems architecture; software engineering; visual programming; networks; internet security; client server solutions; office systems; e-commerce and integrated business websites; students develop teamwork; communication and project management skills; students undertake an individual project in the final year of the course allowing specialisation in an application of particular interest; the report demonstrates competence in this area; this course covers computing subjects geared towards the development of professional business application software; students are provided with the knowledge and skills to allow them to contribute as a computing professional in a commercial organisation; students develop skills in analysing and designing business applications; subject specific skills include visual programming; systems analysis; database design and implementation; and internet programming; students learn teamwork and communication skills; research and implementation skills are developed through the project module.
