The business management (human resource management) (top-up) programme is for students who have the successful entry requirements; the top-up course builds on existing knowledge and understanding of business management and human resource management; students consider the workings of the business world through its many different aspects including generic business principles and practice as well as the specific themes of business strategy; and advanced human resource themes; learners develop key skills; such as time management; communications and information technology; students gain an understanding of the business environment and how different organisations operate; learners develop practical knowledge of a range of business functions e.g. planning; marketing; strategy; law and human resources and an understanding of the principles behind business operations; students develop higher levels of relevant and applied skills such as the capacity for critical reasoning and analysis; synthesis of data and interpretation of findings; application of concepts and the identification and solving of problems.
Level 2 (HE5): students may be required to study additional HE5 modules; these are drawn from: financial decision making for business managers; managing organisational behaviour; research methods; operations management; work experience; managing the employment relationship; human resource development. Level 3 (HE6) (Top-up): menu 1; core modules: project; contemporary management issues; strategic human resource management; option modules (choose 2): international human resource management; employment and law; strategic management; menu 2; core modules; investigative study; contemporary management issues; strategic human resource management; international human resource management; employment and law; strategic management.
