This programme has been designed with an emphasis on the practical application of economics to a variety of business issues; modules in modern economic theory are key components, and there is a strong emphasis throughout on the relevance of theory to practical business issues; each scheme of study is divided into 2 parts; part 1 is a wholly taught component consisting of 120 credits, which is taught in teaching block 1 and teaching block 2 of the academic year; part 2 of the scheme is a supervised dissertation, worth 60 credits, in which candidates must produce a critical review of the literature, as well as make an original contribution to the chosen field of study that can be in any area of the taught syllabus.
Compulsory modules: Research methods; modern microeconomics; contemporary macroeconomics; firm organisation and innovation; management of international finance; financial economics; econometric methods; financial econometrics; optional modules: economic forecasting; labour and personnel economics; marketing; business law.
