This course designed to give students both core theoretical and practical skills in the field of journalism and electronic communications; it addresses the nature and limitations of news coverage and of the media more generally; it covers key issues in news and media studies as well as legal and ethical concerns for media professionals; students practice interviewing and investigative skills and learn how to produce and structure broadcast and online news stories; they also learn practical journalism skills.
Core modules: media & society; studying media; broadcast journalism; online journalism; plus optional modules from: new media and society; television and society; media and international development; and television and reality.
