This course provides training for giving safe massage treatments that are both commercially acceptable and performed in accordance with legislation and establishment rules. It includes a complete study of the holistic approach, client care and case history taking, professional practice and ethics.
The course includes:
• Full body massage using a variety of techniques
• The treatment environment and the working area
• Therapist appearance and behaviour
• Client care and preparation
• Legislation and working practices
• Client consultations including contraindications and restrictions
• Reflective practice
• The history and philosophy of massage
• Good practice and legal obligations
The course is assessed via:
• 18 treatments to be undertaken on a minimum of 6 clients
• Case studies – 6 clients to be given 2 full body massages
• Final practical exam
• 1 Principles and practice of complementary therapies, written assignment
Students are required to hold an anatomy and physiology qualification or be on a concurrent course.
